Daniel a diagonally striped cowl
Diagonal garter stitch is very easy to knit but it makes your knitting just a little bit different. And best of all, you do not need to knit a tension square as you just knit as much or long as you need it.
It works with any yarn and suitable needle but remember to choose a needle size that is slightly too big for your yarn to get a lovely soft and drapey scarf.
This design works particularly well with variegated yarn or with stripes in different colours.
As this is a garter stitch design, you do not have to know how to purl. As it is a diagonal knit, you will however need to know at least one way of increasing and decreasing. But why not take this project to practise these two techniques?
The pattern has been written for my beginners knitting class and therefore features two versions to suit different levels of knitting with an option to create neat edges (slip stitch selvedge edge).
