Designed for one of my best friends, who is inordinately impressed by stranded colorwork and declared that all of the socks in my sketchbook must be for her. The design features multiple traditional fair isle motifs, worked in a clean and modern manner. While the example used variegated for a contrasting color, it can be worked in a more traditional color theme.

The sock is completely stranded colorwork, except the heel flap, toe, and ribbing. The same size needles are used throughout, meaning that due to the smaller than average gauge in the colorwork portion, the stitch count is higher than the standard. However, this creates a more detailed look and negates the need to carry a second pair of needles with you if you use it as a travel project.

Except for the final section near the ribbing, all of the motifs use an 8-stitch repeat that makes them easy to memorize and anticipate.
