This market bag is worked in a spiral out from a small circular cast on. It’s then worked in a simple but attractive mesh for the body of the bag with a short garter section at the top (with optional eyelet row for an added drawstring) and a short garter strap.

The main body is worked in the round with the strap worked flat and added afterward.

Though I suggest Schaefer Yarn Company Laurel, any cotton or cotton blend of a similar weight can be used.

It is easily customized to make different sized bags. Simply keep stop increasing early or add a few more increase rows to get the circumference you want and adjust how many times you work the mesh repeats for depth.
