Pattern description from Knitting in America: “Katy designed these father-daughter sweaters for a lawyer and urban planner in Berkeley, California, and his one-year-old daughter, both of whom can be seen modeling on page 129. Katy felt that it was very important that the child’s jumper-vest be expandable so that it could be worn over the course of more than a few months. To achieve this effect, she worked adjustable ties into the shoulder seam, thus allowing the garment to grow with the child. She chose Brown Sheep’s Top of the Lamb worsted-weight wool for the adult cardigan and Brown Sheep’s Cotton Fleece (80 percent pima cotton, 20 percent merino wool) for the child’s garment. The patterns for these sweaters begin on page 206. Also included there are Katy’s interpretations of the meaning of the symbols in each one.”

The father’s sweater referred to in the pattern description is Lee’s Crow-Bear Cardigan.

• One pair size 4 knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• Size E crochet hook
• 3 buttons

Note: When changing colors on the same row, bring new color under old color to twist strands and prevent holes.
