Inspiration
As a symbol of oak roots, the Dara knot symbol was used by the celts to describe the resources that we each possess as individuals – in our inner root system. The Dara was a reminder that no matter the life circumstances, you could always connect to – and access this internal strength of the spirit.

Pattern (US terminology)
Starting from the bottom up with a basic ribbing for the brim, this first part is really simple to make and leaves you with a nice elastic brim as base for the cable work.

The cable stitch pattern itself may seem complicated at first, but if you like cable work, once you get started, you’ll find it quite relaxing to work with – and I’ll break it down for you. Step by step. Including photo illustrations.

This pattern is for you if you:
⭐Love Cables
⭐are intrigued by the idea of celtic crochet
⭐are an intermediate crocheter or…
⭐are familiar with Front Post Treble Crochet and excited to try these cables

I will not recommend this pattern for beginners

Sizes: S-M-L to fit head circumference:
Small: 54/55/56 cm or 21.3”/21.7”/22”
Medium: 57/58/59 cm or 22.4”/22.8”/23.2” -
Large: 60/61/62 cm or 23.6”/24”/24.4”

Use
This hat is really thick, nice and textured - and the cabled structured makes it warm enough to keep your ears from freezing in cold winter weather - and I think the stitch pattern makes it interesting to look at - and not something anyone can make or buy from a store.
