My little girl needed a lightweight spring shrug to wear with sleeveless dresses on chilly days, so I came up with this quick and easy, vintage-style shell shrug (“vintage-style” in that it reminds me a bit of the clothing I admire on the BBC Jane Austen movies :-P).

I included the measurements I used for her 3-6 and 6-12 month size shrugs, but I don’t see any reason this can’t be easily adapted to fit ANY size, from newborn through adult.

The standard, abbreviated pattern is at the very bottom of the post (beneath all the photos). I also included a beginner-friendly step-by-step photo tutorial (because I found this sort of thing helpful when I was first learning to crochet!). I hope you enjoy!
