Darlene Shawl
2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs CAL
What’s better than plaid? Being able to make a gorgeous plaid wrap through your favorite craft! This beginner-level pattern works up into a beautiful shawl with a nice, soft drape, so your finished product will make you look like a pro!
The base of this wrap is worked in a pattern of dc and ch-1 spaces. Once the body of the wrap is complete, you weave strands of yarn through the ch-1 spaces to create a lovely plaid effect. Tying off the extra strands at the edges of the shawl creates a built-in fringe! An easy-to-read chart helps you place your colors correctly, and a photo tutorial helps explain the weaving and tying processes.
Whether you want a wrap for yourself or a warm lapghan for a beloved friend or family member, this easy pattern is the way to go!
The Darlene Shawl is the March installment of the 2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Crochet ALong, which features a different shawl pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to a local children’s hospital - specifically a cancer ward - so they can be handed out to mothers who suffer the pain of watching their child be ill. I design and donate these shawls in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
