For Trekkies everywhere, here is a pattern to make your very own Star Trek TNG season 3+ style poncho.

Worked from the top down, black sections are worked directly into the colored body instead of using seaming. This makes it drape more naturally.

Due to the complexity of the shapes of the uniforms, this pattern is best for an intermediate/advanced crocheter, but I’ve included detailed instructions and photos for every step of the way.

You will need one ball of black yarn and a ball of the department of your choice, either Science (teal), Operations (gold) or Command (red). I’ve used Hobbii Twister Solid yarn here, but you can replace it with other DK or light worsted yarns. Caron Simply Soft has some good Starfleet colors to choose from.
