My Granddaughter, Davida, loves horses, and Spirit, from a children’s movie, is her favorite at the moment, so I made her this cardigan.

This cardigan starts at the back hem, continues over the shoulders, binding off stitches for the neck edges and continues down the front in 2 pieces. Then you pick up stitches for the sleeves and knit outward to the cuffs. I crocheted the sides and underarm seams to make a flat almost invisible seam. The neckband and button bands are picked up and knitted. Then the horse pattern is added last, using duplicate stitch.

Small amounts of white, light brown, dark brown and black are used to duplicate stitch the horse pattern.

I recommend using markers for marking the top of the shoulders.

6 buttons 7/8” or 22cm wide.
