Venice is a very unique city of many sights and sounds and a ride in a gondola through the canals is priceless.

This cowl design was inspired by the striped shirts of the Gondoliers.

This pattern uses simple stitches combined with the stunning effect of colour pooling and classic stripes. The instructions will walk you through the process of finding your pooling “code” number and applying it to this pattern. Very simple and will get you hooked on pooling!

I designed it as a “sister pattern” to DaVinci Cowl III Spanish Steps pattern and to use up the leftover yarn. I used 60 grams solid and 50 grams of the multi coloured yarn.

This pattern now includes a second PDF for you to download. It is a compilation of frequently asked questions about the original DaVinci Cowl and will help you in choosing yarn and give a better understanding of the planned pooling process.

This would make a lovely His and Her’s pair of cowls.
