Day
Day - my new design for a really COZY day! This pullover is the absoulutely coziest garment I have ever had. It will make my day warmer, friendlier, more comfortable. Worked in Silk Mohair held double, in a textured stitch-pattern, it feels like holding a rabbit:)
Day is a very simple pullover. No waist-shaping, but with beautiful raglan-shaping of the upper body to ensure a great fit.
The over-all rib-pattern gives texture, as well as even more fluffiness.
Construction
The construction is completely seamless (unless you choose to bind off the underarm sts; then you will need to seam up the underam gap).
You start working the lower body bottom-up, and in-the-round to underams. Sleeves are worked bottom-up, and in-the-round to underams as well. Lower body and sleeves are joined, and upper body is worked in one piece. The neckline is worked from picked-up, and spared, sts.
Sizes
There are 8 sizes to choose from.
Finished chest-measurements are: 94/102/109/116/123/131/138/145 cm = 37/40/43/45.5/48.5/51.5/54/57”.
Sample is worked in size 1, with approximately 5” of positive ease.
The pullover is supposed to be generous. I do recommend at least a couple of inches of positive ease.
Materials
Yarn: I used Isager Strik “Silk Mohair”, in colour-way 62, held double to work the sweater. This lace-weight yarn comes in balls of 25 gr/0.88oz and 212 m/232 yards. It is important that you work according to gauge to achieve a great result! You will need approximately 8/10/11/12/13/14/15/16 balls of this specific yarn to work the pullover.
(The yardage maybe seems much, please remember that the yarn is held double).
Needles 3.5 mm/US4 for the hem, cuff and neckline.
4 mm/US6 for the main-body and sleeves.
Notions 4 removable stitch-markers. Separate holders. Tapestry needle. Blocking tools (if needed! My pullover is not blocked at all, I didn’t find it necessary).
Gauge
22 sts and 28-30 rounds in stitch-pattern = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”.
Please note that the stitch-pattern isn’t brioche.
The pattern
All measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches.
All necessary stitch-counts are given.
There is a schematic.
The stitch-pattern is written out.
The sleeve increases are charted.
Knitting skills:
I believe that an adventurous beginner should be able to work this pullover.
The techniques involved are: cast-on, bind-off, picking up sts, simple increases, simple decreasess, working in-the-round.
