I always find that running at night I’m in need of bright things, so this cowl is perfect. I made it with cream chunky yarn and edison bulb madelinetosh and let the yarn do the walking and talking. This cowl also keeps my lungs from freezing in the cold air and I find that it’s easier with a chunky and big cowl that my breath can stay in the warmth of wool and keep me from tiring too quickly.

As such, this cowl is great for runners or those who live in colder climes. It can be made longer or shorter, depending on how much yarn you want to use. The photographed cowl is 14 inches long with an extra half-skein of the main color, but you can easily make this 10 inches long with one skein of yarn.

The cowl takes about a weekend to finish. The merino light will slip in and out of view on the public side of your knitting giving it a tweed-y look in spots. If you want to use more of your Madelinetosh, as you won’t use the entire skein for either cowl, you can carry it through the borders.
