Deann is named after my best knitting friend, who just loves to make hats and mitts. Matching fingerless mitts pattern also available.

The hat is packed with a variety of textured stitches, starting with a cloche-like band that is worked flat and joined, then stitches are picked up from the band with the rest of the hat worked in the round. A decorative tab feature on the end of the band is embellished with a button, to set the hat off.

Pattern also includes instructions for a Sibling Version which keeps all the texture of the original, with a less elaborate brim and top.

Skills required: working flat, picking up stitches, working in the round, knit and purl stitch patterns, decreases.

Yardages are generous to allow for more pattern repeats if required.

The photos are of Deann and her family wearing all the hats I made for them in both versions.
