Dear Björn
I met my husband on the open deck of a research vessel moored in the port of Kirkenes, beyond the Arctic Circle. For 6 years we lived in two different countries, came to each other for the holidays, spent hours in Skype and … wrote letters, hundreds of them.
I create this sock design to celebrate love and warmth I feel every time I read these letters. Stitch by stitch, letter by letter, I reminisce about all the roads we took together. This is my way to say ‘thank you’ for the support and happiness, patience and understanding I’m getting every day.
Originally the pattern was published in Laine’s 52 Weeks Of Socks book. The revised version of the pattern contains more sizes. The new size range allows to knit socks for kids and adults. You also may choose to knit a pair of socks with or without contrasting toes, heels, and cuffs.
The socks are knit toe-up with Gusset and Heel Flap heel. The simple pattern formed by slipped stitches knits fast and is easy to remember.
