Deaton Socks
As I was driving across the Cedar River a few months ago, I noticed the bridge was named the Deaton Memorial Bridge. Since my brain is in design mode constantly lately, I instantly filed that one as a good name for a uni-sex sock – one that could be pretty enough for a woman, but still have a classic look that could be called manly. It’s all in the choice of yarn of course. The garter-cable rib is a nice way to add cables without eating up too much yarn. And because it’s all about the details, the garter-cable rib runs right down the back of the heel, and the toe has a faux seam.
In sizes small/medium and medium/large. The size small/medium stitch counts are shown first. The medium/large size is shown in parentheses. The medium/large size fits a woman’s size 10 (US) wide foot comfortably.
These socks were written specifically for Jitterbug, to use only one skein. If larger socks are made, or if the gauge is off, 2 skeins of Jitterbug might be needed. This pattern tends to look best in lighter colored, less busy yarns, but work with what you love! This pattern is written cuff-down on magic loop needles.
