The pattern gives the needle sizes needed as “No. 3” and “No. 3.5”. This probably refers to metric sizes: 3mm and 3.5mm, but I’m not entirely sure about that.

Gauge

The gauge given above (24 stitches x 33 rows = 4” x 4”) applies to stockinette stitch using 3.5 mm (US 4) needles.
