As dusk settles onto the climbing vines and wooden trellises, the garden seems almost decadent in its hues. This shawl captures that magical essence with lace ladders and braided cables, for an accessory that is rich, yet delightfully quick-to-knit.

This shawl begins with a few stitches at one tip and is worked lengthwise on the bias. It starts with the creation of the broad cable and lace border. Then, as the border continues along the bottom edge of the shawl, the stockinette body forms at the top until the shawl is finished with a few rows of garter stitch. Because this shawl is worked from one end to the other, the size of the shawl can be adjusted by working more or fewer repeats of the pattern.

Knitters may choose to adapt the pattern by increasing or decreasing the number of repeats of the Increasing Pattern to create a wider or thinner decorative border.
The stitch patterns are both written and charted for your preference.
