December's Moebius Cowl
This is a nice long warm cowl that may be worn long, wrapped twice around the neck, once around the neck and over the head, or around your shoulders as a wrap.
Experience: Beginner/Intermediate
Finished size: 58” circumference, 11” width (147 cm x 28 cm) You may shorten this cowl by using bulky rather than super bulky yarn and/or dropping to US 11 needles.
Materials:
- 3 skeins of Araucania Coliumo Solid, super bulky (70% wool, 30% silk, (100 g/95 yd/100 m) (or similar super bulky or bulky yarn)
-
9mm (US 13) circular needles, 40” or 47” length (101.6 cm or 190.4 cm) (40” will be tight for super bulky, so you may want to use an extension or a longer cable)
-
one stitch/ring marker
-
tapestry needle or crochet hook large enough for yarn for weaving in the ends.
I couldn’t find a cowl or a wimple that I really like, so I improvised this. This is my first design/creation. I needed something warm enough to keep out the -20F plus winds at my son’s XC skiing meets and his biathlon competitions this winter. I was tired of losing my scarf, a cold neck and hats not fitting over my ears.
Turquoise is my birthstone, so I decided that this be a birthday present to myself this December. :o)
I decided to post the pattern after a couple of friends asked for a copy. This pattern has not been tested. This comes entirely from the original. Feel free to contact me with any questions or mistakes.
