Decorative Basket "Autumn Colors"
This decorative basket with its artful crisscross pattern and pentagon base is a real eye catcher and offers plenty of room for all your little odds and ends.
Whether you want to use it as a fruit basket, a basket for bread rolls on the breakfast table, for your crochet and knitting materials of for all kinds of little toys – they’ll all be kept safe in here.
This basket is very versatile, self-supporting, washable and can even be folded to save room if needed.
Bring the charm of this warm autumn basket into your home and brighten up the cold days.
Size using the indicated material, the basket “Autumn Colors” will be about 5 in / 13 cm high and will have a diameter of about 8 in/ 20 cm
Difficulty Level: medium, basic knowledge of crochet techniques required
Stitches/ techniques used:
chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, reverse single crochet (short description included), half double crochet, double crochet, front post treble crochet (short description included), Magic Ring, increasing/, changing color, work in spiral rounds and closed rounds
Material:
- Crochet hook size 4.5
- Cotton yarn (e.g. Schoeller & Stahl Record 210) in the colors orange, red, light green and dark brown (82 yds / 1.75 oz or 90 m / 50 g) – you may, of course, also use any other type of yarn and crochet hook in matching size
Amount of yarn needed:
For the basket shown in the picture (diameter about 8 in/ 20 cm) I have used a total amount of about 220g of yarn, which means two balls of orange and one ball (50g) of each red, light green and dark brown.
Gauge:
4 inch x 4 inch = 17 hdc x 12 rows (10 x 10 cm)
Don’t worry if your gauge doesn’t match 100% here – that just means your basket might turn out slightly smaller or bigger than mine. The important thing is that you found a yarn you really like
