Ever since I blogged about decoy wasp nest patterns on KnitHacker in 2020, I’ve wanted to design one for knitters.

I live in a log cabin in the woods in upstate NY and deal with every kind of insect imaginable … so I finally did it. It works, and it’s a fun knit!

The realistic texture is achieved by picking up purl bumps from a previous round, creating a textured, layered surface that closely mimics a real wasp nest. A link to a private video demonstration is included with your pattern purchase.
