Yarn: The Farmer’s Daughter Craggy Tweed DK (DK-weight; 85% Merino, 15% NEP; 211m / 231yds per 100g skein)
Shade: Sunny’s; 1 (1, 2) skeins
OR approx. 170 (200, 230)m / 186 (219, 252)yds of DK-weight yarn.
Gauge: 20 sts & 17 rounds = 10cm / 4” over main body pattern using 4.5mm hook, after blocking.
10 “ribs” (20 rows) = 10cm / 4” over brim pattern using 4.5mm hook, after blocking.
Hook: 4.5mm / US 7 crochet hook
Always use a hook size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions: Locking/removable stitch marker, tapestry needle.
Notes: Decrescendo is constructed from the bottom up by working the brim sideways in rows of rib before joining to form a round. Without fasting off, the body is then added in continuous spiralling rounds that decrease at the top to form the crown.
