Deep Purple Shawlette
“When the Deep Purple Falls, Over Sleepy Garden Walls; And the Stars Begin to Twinkle in the Sky…” The Deep Purple Crescent Shaped Shawlette was inspired by the Dewberry shade of color I used. I knit this pure Merino Wool DK weight shawlette up with only 1 skein of Malabrigo Rastita (300 yards). It has subtle color variations that add interest to the project, and is slightly felted for soft texture. It has a “wingspan” of just over about 6 feet…plenty of room to wrap around your shoulders or neck as either a shawl or a scarf, although slightly shorter than my other shawlette designs. This shawlette is just under a foot wide. It is edged in a simple but elegant cascading lace pattern that forms a nice scallop on the edges. It is machine washable (delicate cycle, separately, re-pin to shape flat to dry). It is knit from the bottom up, starting with the lace border, and then short rows make up the body of the shawlette in garter stitch and give it its easy-to-wear crescent shape. Quick to knit up, and even more fun to accessorize with!
