The technique of this scarf is an easy and quick way to showcase that beautiful, multicolored, bulky yarn that you bought or spun yourself. The showcase yarn is incorporated in stitches of a basic yarn. This special yarn is just trapped in the lower part of the stitches, which makes for a lacy fabric. ‘Deep waters’ has a lovely drape.

The scarf is a variation on weaving crochet. To show you how weaving crochet works there is a basic weaving crochet tutorial at the end of the pattern with detailed pictures of how to work around the bulky yarn and how to turn the work.

Finished measurements: 60 inches x 4.7 inches (152,5 cm x 12 cm) without the fringes.

Yarn: I’ve made this scarf with handspun merino yarns. The whole project required 29.5 yards (27 meters) of a bulky yarn and 202 yards (185 meters) of a basic sport weight yarn. Different yarn may require different yardage and your personal way of crocheting matters as well.

Gauge: 22.5 stitches (4.5 units) are 4 inches (10 cm) and 7.5 rows are 4 inches (10 cm), both using a size G (4.0 mm) hook. Check your gauge. Use any size hook to obtain specified gauge.

The pattern is both written and charted, using US crochet terms.
