Crochet pattern for a baby blanket with deer and moon. This pattern comes with both a graph and written directions.

All single stitch crochet using the tapestry crochet technique (carrying yarn)

You will need 2 skeins of Aqua (A), 2 skeins of black (B), 1 skein of dark blue (C), 1 skein of blue (D), 2 skeins of light blue (E) & 1 skein of white (F) to complete this pattern. This is assuming a medium weight yarn with a skein length of about 350 yards. Also, please feel free to use whatever colors you’d like :)

I recommend carrying only the aqua (A) and black (B) in the beginning. Once you’re done with the Aqua (A) you can stop carrying it and start carrying Dark Blue (C) & blue (D). You can carry them through the entire row or keep them on the side of the mountain they’re on. Once you’re through the tree-line you can stop carrying the black yarn and start carrying light blue (E) instead. I would only carry the white yarn (F) where the moon is.

I recommend a medium weight (worsted weight) yarn with a J sized hook. The tapestry should come out to about 3’ 3” feet wide (when crocheted with a J hook and medium weight yarn). This can vary pretty widely based on the person crocheting it. There are online conversion calculators where you basically crochet a test patch and then enter in your results to come up with a more specific size you’d get based on how you crochet and the yarn you’re using etc. Based on how I crochet I would get a 3’ 3” width.

It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great Youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.
