DELFT BLUE HAT
The inspiration for this hat comes from a Delft Blue plate that belongs to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
I have loved Delft Blue pottery and knitting forever. When the Rijksmuseum opened its collection on the internet (RijksStudio) I loved to look at all the faience plates. At that time I was making a hat and I suddenly loved the idea of making a hat in these colors and with such an elaborate pattern.
I copied the plate, changed it to a stranded knitting chart, and realized that it was impossible to knit a whole plate into a hat! I decided that using just one pattern would be enough.
I loved making the hat with small needles, the tiny stitches, the way it became a Delft blue hat. I love the fit, you can pull it over your ears when the wind is blowing, and you can wear it above your ears in a slant or straight.

The hat won the third price in the prestigious RijksStudio Award 2014, in the Rijksmuseum.
