Delft Blue Tile
Discontinued.
This digital pattern is no longer available online.
This pretty Delft blue tile is sitting in my window sill in my old house in a historic town in Holland. It dates from the 19th century.
At once I imagined it would make a great knitwork design. It was a huge job to convert it into stitches, and I had to adapt the original quite a bit to get a good result.
I knitted it from chunky home spun yarn, and did a special trick to give it that painted Delft look. It makes a very nice pillow case, baby blanket, or if you make plenty of them, a tiled afghan.
