This shawl begins at the neck and is designed with the shoulder shaping that all Faroese shawls have. The neck border continues down the shawl to create a beautiful seed stitch edging on each side of the shawl.

This Faroese shawl is designed to use two 500 yard cakes of Frolicking Feet Monochromatic – Dyed Gradient DK Weight by Done Roving Yarns.

The yarn I used to design this is available at Yarn in the Box. The pattern does include instructions for pulling from the cake to maximize the beauty of this yarn.

I have six other faroese shawls designed with fingering weight yarn. The fingering weight faroese shawl designs are Scottsdale, Joann Elizabeth, Rocky Shores, Wiley Willow Valley, and California Travels.

This pattern does not have any complicated stitches, but all right side rows are different and does require concentration due to the different rows. All wrong side rows are purl across the complete row. No sewing, seamless.

The pattern is not charted, but is fully written, with line by line written instructions.

Center back / 30 inches
Wingspan / 75 inches

Yarn:
• DK Weight Yarn: 900 - 950 yards
• Small amount of waste yarn for provisional cast on

Needles Used:
• US 9 (5.5mm) circular 32”
• US 9 (5.5mm) double point set (optional)
• Crochet Hook G (4mm) – for provisional cast on

Supplies:
• Stitch markers
• Darning needle

Gauge:
• 2 inches = Approximately 10 stitches and 12 rows
Producing the desired fabric is more important than obtaining
an exact gauge. Adjust yardage accordingly.

Techniques Used:
• Basic lace – stitches used are knit, purl, yo, k2tog, ssk, s2kpo, M1L, M1R
• Provisional Cast On
• Elastic Bind Off
