Delta Lace Mobius Cowl
Book has been discontinued. Just a few left in my shop. See link for details!
As many of you know, Math fascinates me. One of my favorite mathematical symbols is the infinity sign. Something that just goes on forever boggles the mind, and I love that kind of thing.
Therefore, it is only natural that I design a mobius style item for this Lace book.
The model is made with Berroco’s Seduce, uses a Single Crochet Foundation, and is worked from the center out. What this means is that the starting “chain” is in the very middle of the mobius, and when you crochet the lace, you work first the top of the Single Crochet Foundation stitches, and then when you get to the start of the “chain” again, the half twist allows you to keep going and work around the bottom side of the Single Crochet foundation stitches which form the “chain”. So in essence, you are working “two rounds” in the course of a single round of instructions, one on the top and one on the bottom.
What I love about cowls such as this is that you can wear it as the model is, you can twist it up more so that it fits just around the neck, you can let it hang around your neck like a scarf, or you can actually pull it up over your head to cover your ears and neck. It is a versatile garment. And another great feature of this type of construction is the fact that you can add or subtract rounds so that you can have the cowl as wide or as narrow as you wish.
This is one of my favorite pieces in the book. It is light and airy for spring and summer, but would look fantastic with a shimmering yarn for a holiday party.
