The Dendron Shawl, when worked in a variegated yarn, reminds me of tree rings that form as a tree ages. It is a fully reversible, asymmetrical, bias-knit shawl, and the Petite Point Lace Border that runs along one of its sides is knit at the same time as the main body of the shawl. The pattern begins with only 10 stitches and grows as you work it until you add the Indian Cross Stitch Border on another side of the shawl. I used 650 yards of fingering weight yarn to knit this in, but this pattern is very versatile and can be worked in any weight yarn from fingering to worsted and can be made as big or small as you would like. Using fingering yarn, my shawl knit up to be over 7 feet in length, and 17 inches at its deepest point. The pattern includes full written instructions and a couple of video help links.
