Denim Skirt
There is nothing more comfy than a favorite pair of jeans. The sample is Yeoman Indigo which has been discontinued. This skirt, knitted in Yeoman “Indigo” has the same comfort and appeal. The yarn does bleed blue, as traditional jeans did, so for the first few washings wash it separately. A small amount of contrasting yarn is needed for the trim. We used Tamm Microtamm for the great jeans-stitching color. If you substitute, be sure to choose a synthetic yarn for the contrast so that it will not absorb the blue dye lost by the indigo yarn. 16 oz. is enough yarn for all sizes. If Yeoman Indigo yarn is unavailable, Tamm Perle will come out almost the same but will make the hip and waist 1-2” larger per size.
Gauge: 29 stitches and 40 rows per 4” at stitch size 10 on standard gauge machine. Wash and dry swatch twice before measuring. Passap knitters can match the gauge at stitch size 7 or 8 and knit sizes up to the 3rd size Sizes at hip: 35.7, 37.3, 38.9, 41, 43.1, 44.3. Not much ease is needed because of the flare. Sizes at waist: 23, 24.5, 26, 27.5,29.5, 31.5. The waist is stretchy so will slide over hips but if the measurement given is too small to wear relative to the hip size, omit the last few decreases Lengths: 22.8-24.4, increasing slightly with every size. Skirt may drop slightly in wear Notes: all decreases are full-fashioned decreases worked with the 2 prong tool to make seaming smooth and easy.
