Lovingly known as the “Existential Dread Dino”, this pattern includes instructions for both the large amigurumi dino, the little plush dino it’s holding, as well as the meteor that is the cause of that existential dread- so you can put on your dino onesie, while cuddling your plush dino, while it cuddles it’s own plush dino….. while you doom scroll to avoid contemplating on your own existence.

(You may choose to create each piece separately, or as a whole set).

Pattern includes photos for technique clarification, major steps, and assembly- this pattern does not contain photos for every repeating step.

Level: intermediate amigurumi (with lots of placing and sewing) Project time approx. 15.5 hours at moderate pace for large dino, 2 hours for the mini, and 2.5 hours for the meteor (20 hours total)
Finished size: Personal tension/yarn choice can cause individual variation in finished size
Main Large Dino: Height standing- approx. 21”, sitting 14”. Width from tail to belly 11 ½”
Mini Plush Dino: height standing- approx. 5 ½”, sitting 4”. Width from tail to belly 3 ½”
Meteor: 5” long, 2 ½” wide.

Supplies:
• 3.5mm hook (US E-4) for main parts. 3mm hook for details (there is no US number/name for this size- please look for a “mm” version for accuracy)
• Stitch markers, or similar
• Yarn needle (for lots of sewing)
• 8mm safety eyes for the mini dino (or buttons, or supply of choice)
• Worsted weight Yarn (weight- Medium/4) Personal tension may alter amounts needed Loops and Threads “impeccable” was used for this pattern.
-Main Large Dino: approx. 450 meters (495 yards) of main colour (MC), 140 meters (155 yards) of contrasting colour (CC). Minimal in contrasting colour 2 (stripes), white and black.
-“Mini Plush Dino” and “Meteor” can be stash busters.
• Polyfil (or equivalent) for stuffing

Stitches/Abbreviations Used- US terminology
• St: stitch
• Ch: chain
• Sl st: slip stitch
• MR: magic ring/Magic circle
• Sc: single crochet
• Hdc: half double crochet
• Dc: double crochet
• Tr: treble (triple) crochet
• Pc: popcorn stitch with 5 double crochets (5 dc)
• Inc: regular increase (two single crochet stitches in one stitch)
• Hdc inc: increase with half double crochets (two half double crochet stitches in one stitch)
• Dec: regular decrease (crochet 2 stitches together- you may also use an invisible decrease if you’d like)
• BLO: work through the back loop only.
• F/O; finish or fasten off
• Numbers in brackets at the end of the row dictate the number of stitches you should have
