Depths of Winter
This pattern is great for using leftover DK or 4ply yarn from your stash.
The lace patterned fingerless gloves are worked flat in rows, with a 4 row pattern repeat and straight edges. A gap is left for the thumb and the edges are then slip stitched together, finishing with a simple shell edging on the wrist.
The lace design does have some stretch so fits comfortably on the hand. The medium/large size is longer at the wrist. You can choose whether you want the flat or raised textured lace showing on the outside.
Sizes: Age 6-8 & small adult hand, with glove circumference measured as 7½”/ 19cm, length of glove is 5½”/14cm, worked in 4ply yarn. If DK yarn is used then the finished glove size will be 8”/20.3 circumference if worked with a 4mm hook
Sizes: Medium/large adult, with glove circumference measured as 8½”/ 21.5cm, length of 7½”/ 19cm, worked in DK yarn & 5mm hook
Yarns: Any 4ply yarn for the smallest size (I used 28g of Drops ‘Delight’ variegated colour 12 Rainbow print, 75% superwash sock wool/ 25% polyamide). This yarn comes in a 50g ball/skein & is 175m/191 yds long. I also used 42g (includes tension gauge square) of Scheepjes Colour Crafter DK 100% acrylic ‘Den Helder’ (light blue), 100g ball, just under 164 yards/150 metres. For the medium & large sizes with the larger hook I used 45g/164 yards/150metres (incl tension square) of Scheepjes Colour Crafter premium DK, colour Delft (Royal Blue), 100g ball. If you have any leftover yarn it is probably easier to weigh the yarn to see if you have enough for the size you require, which is why I have added the yarn weight of the finished gloves.
