Beside the scarf, another must-have basic for the fall is the knit hat. I made the Devon hat to be a set with my Devon Snood. Together, this hat is a great complement to the cowl, but alone it is a chic winter accessory by itself.

I use the same Aran knit stitches with the diamonds and cables slightly compressed so that they are adapted for the smaller surface of the hat. The form of the hat is designed to be a little slouchy, having some extra length and width than a normal beret.

Any worsted weight wool yarn in your favorite color will work beautifully together with the cable stitches.
