Dewey the Bookworm
Dewey the Bookworm is my first written pattern and promises to be a lovely addition to your library! This charming fellow sports a bowtie and handmade wire-frame glasses, and he can be used as a decoration for your bookshelf or a functional bookmark/magnet depending on the elements added and modifications made. He’s also a great gift for the book lover or library worker in your life! What better way to celebrate reading than to have a little friend like Dewey by your side?
This free pattern includes instructions and suggestions based on an original design I created for my own library, but you’re more than welcome to use them as a baseline for creating your own unique friend - there are so many options for expanding and experimenting! The best part is, this little guy is poseable thanks to wire inserts that allow him to bend and twist around your shelf corners or other items on display! Wowie!
Multiple bookworms were made from one skein with plenty of yarn to spare, so feel free to make a bunch for your loved ones, or as random acts of kindness! Happy crocheting!
NOTE: Because of size and the use of wire in this project, this project is not recommended for young children.
