The constellation, Coma Berenices, tells the story of Queen Berenice II who cut off her hair, as a sacrifice to Aphrodite, in gratitude for her husband’s safe return from war. When the King returns and finds that the queen’s hair was not in the temple, as he expected, he is outraged. His advisors calmed him by assuring him that the Queen’s hair had not been stolen, but rather, the goddess had accepted her sacrifice- placing her crowning glory in the night sky as a constellation.
Coma Berenices is best viewed in the northern skies during the spring and this kerchief is named after its alpha star, Diadem. The dainty fan and lace motifs evoke the fresh mid-spring feelings of a beautiful May day.

• Blocked Gauge: 10 rows & 18 stitches per 4” worked in DC
• Blocked Measurements: 20” - 22” wide X 9” - 10” deep
• Blocked measurements are given as a range to account for the variations found in DK/Sport weight yarns.
• Adjust kerchief width (kerchief front edge) by working more or fewer repeats of rows 9-12. Each repeat increases the width by about 3 inches and the depth by about 1.5 inches.
