Diagnified
Diagnified is a cuff-down fraternal pair of socks with a patterned heel flap/gusset and a standard toe. These socks have a bit of everything: lace, cables and texture! Because they require constant stitch shifting, these socks are not suitable for two at a time knitting, but they can be made one at a time on DPNs or circulars in your favourite method. I had to make up a few new-to-me stitches and symbols for this pattern, and they are highlighted and explained in the stitch keys.
Please be aware these socks use up a bit more yarn than most other patterned socks, and may take more yards than comes in a standard 100g skein of sock yarn. If you are making large, long socks and/or using a thicker sock yarn, you may need an extra skein. The biggest pair of socks in my testing group used approximately 462 yards/110g for a size large. Please use your own judgement here, but if you regularly use 95g or more for a patterned sock, you will almost certainly need that extra skein.
Cuff length, heel height, and gusset decreases are modifiable, however due to the nature of the pattern, cast on numbers are fixed for the three sizes. Leg length (minus the cuff, before the heel) is also fixed at 70 rows.
The pattern includes some big charts, and unless you have Superman vision you will probably need the ability to zoom in and/or enlarge them.
*****Before you purchase****** please be aware that this is a challenging pattern for experienced knitters. The consensus from my testers was that the pattern is confusing at first, but once you “get it”, it becomes much easier. This is a buy at your own risk pattern, and there will be no refunds given. If you get stuck you can search the testing thread here: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/the-testing-pool/3569274 for help, and I will try to answer any questions PM’d to me in a timely manner.
I must show my infinite appreciation for the (almost 30!) test knitters who completed a sock for me. Your patience and perseverance were indispensable! Thank you so much.
