This pattern is a knitted diagonal eylet pattern over six stitches. The eyelet is over 5 stitches with a knitted 6th stitch.

For straight knitting, the wrong side row is all purl stitches. The pattern can be easily converted into circular knitting by knitting the 5 pattern stitches and purling the 6th stitch.
