My friend asked how hard it was to make her some fingerless gloves. She had recently seen some and thought they were amazing. Answer: Ridiculously easy. I made her pick out her own yarn - it was good for her to have some ownership in the final product. She was originally looking at blacks or greys when this multi-color yarn caught her eye. That presented a new challenge. I told her they would be similar, but not identical. (It can be hard to predict how the color changes will flow)

To get the colors to match: I wound the skein into one ball. Then rewound half so that I had 2 balls of the same size. With me so far? I knit the first glove. The yarn on the 2nd ball didn’t start on the color I needed, so I re-wound it again (reversing the colors). I had to forward thru a bit of light purple to get to the pink I needed to start. It was a lot of dinging around with winding, but the end result was worth it.

The pattern is pretty easy - so great for a beginner. I’ll remake these in a solid color - that might show off the diagonal stripes a bit better.
