Diagonal Seed Stitch
This is a simple stitch pattern comprising knit and purl stitches. It is worked over a 5 stitch and 10 row/round repeat.
The book notes that
Diagonal patterns tend to stretch on the bias. To minimize this, choose firmly twisted yarns, not soft ones, and don’t wring the fabric when washing it.
The pattern is found on page 50 of the book.
