I would say this is an advanced/confident beginner pattern as it uses simple repeats but does require you to be able to do the following stitches: sc,dc, fpdc,bpdc and a basic cable although within the pattern are notes on how to do these stitches.

They will fit most mugs as the buttons can be positioned for fit.
