Yarns with long repeats of color work well with cowls. I wanted a crochet fabric that was soft and drapey, but started (and ended) with half double crochets and double crochets to have a little more firmness at the neck.

Difficulty Level: Beginner

Size: Approximately 10 inches wide and 28 inches in circumference.

Yarn: 1 skein, Carlton Alpaca Divine, 10% Wool, 10% Alpaca, 80% acrylic, 100g, 600 yds
The ball was divided in half so that each ball starts with the same color. The two yarns are held together when crocheting. OR: 300 yards of a sport or DK weight yarn with a long color repeat can be used.

Hook: F or size to achieve gauge. (Use a hook size needle to give a softer fluid fabric.)

Gauge: 17.5 Triple Crochet in 4 inches.
