This bag is made with granny stripes and the tapestry technique. With this technique you crochet over the color you are not working with.

Would you rather work with other colors? Make sure that there is enough contrast between the 2 colors. If you would like to see if there is enough contrast, you can take a black and white photo of the 2 colors you would like to work with, then see if there is enough contrast in this photo. The lighter color should have a light undertone and the darker color should have a dark undertone. If you use 2 colors that look like each other, you will not see the contrast.
