Diamond Blanket
This pattern is actually designed based on a macrame pattern that I designed as a kid. The color work is done best done with the intarsia method. The idea is to make a chevron, and then make an inverse chevron, which gives a diamond pattern look.
Sizing: Finished dimensions are 65” by 80”
Materials:
Yarn: Brava Bulky by Knit Picks. This is a Bulky 100% Acrylic yarn which is machine washable and dryable. It is very durable, soft, and has tons of color options, so it is perfect for a fun colorful blanket.
C1: Fairy Tale 408 yards or 4 skeins
C2: White 544 yards or 4 skeins
C3: Silver 1,088 yards or 8 skeins
C4: Black 816 yards or 6 skeins
Gauge: 13 stitches and 24 rows/4” garter stitch. Please note that the gauge is mostly important for determining how much yarn is needed.
Needles: US 10 ½ 40” circulars, or any size that obtains gauge
Notions: Darning needle to weave in ends.
Pattern:
This pattern is worked flat. To keep the back side neat, it is best to knit the blanket using the intarsia technique, with a separate skein of yarn for each color section. I am writing only the odd numbered rows, as the even numbered rows simply repeat the odd numbered rows. For example, row 2 is exactly the same as row 1.
