Diamond Edge Shawl
The diamond edge shawl is a long rectangle with diamonds shaping one of the long edges, buttons are placed on the other side to give you options of how to wear and style it, making it a more wearable garment.
There is a nice combination of stocking stitch and lace, worked on both sides.
The shawl is started by making a garter border, from which you pick up stitches to start the body of the shawl, then knit on a garter border at the end.
If, like me you are impatient to get on with it, use a provisional cast on, then make the garter border at the end.
the West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite lace is aptly named, it drapes well with the silk, and still has a cosy feel with the wool. There would be enough yarn to knit 13 diamonds, but at 12 I thought it was long enough.
The main shawl pattern is charted, 3 page files are available for a written version of the charts.
Errata - On the chart row 1 st 71 should be a knit, not k2tog
