It all started with the Fair Isle Headband. One morning, while I was running out the door, I tried to wear this headband as a beanie (it wasn’t a pretty sight). So I decided to make a beanie version of it.

If you’d like a slouchy beanie, there are instructions on how to make it one.

This beanie is made a round on circular needles and decreased on double pointed needles. This means there are no seams and minimal finishing afterwards. The Fair Isle pattern is completed with two colors following a chart. Although combining a Fair Isle pattern with knitting in the round may sound complicated, I find it’s easier since I don’t get mixed up on the wrong side stitches.

I used two strands of DK yarn for this pattern. This can end in a tangled mess, but in the process, you get a beautiful product! You can also use a chunkier yarn with the same gauge for the same results.
