Diamond Halo Cowl
Select two colors of DK weight wool like West Wool Tandem and pair them together with matching strands of lace weight mohair silk. I held a matching strand of Glowhair lace weight mohair silk together with each color of Tandem to make the fabric extra soft with a subtle fluffy glow.
This stranded cowl is knit in the round with increases and decreases to form the tapered silhouette. The back of the cowl is higher to form a protective hooded effect for extra defense against the winter chills. Choose a high contrast color combo to accentuate the bold geometric motifs or select a softer contrast for a more shadowy subtle effect.
Finished Measurements
23″ / 58cm circumference around neck after seaming. 7.5″ / 19cm at narrowest part along the front neck. 13″ / 33cm at widest part along the back of the neck/head. Measurements taken after blocking with the tube lying flat.
Yarn
DK weight held together with lace weight mohair
You can knit this cowl without the extra strand of mohair for a simple DK weight wool version.
Yardage
Color A - 280yds / 256m (light color)
Color B - 225yds / 206m (dark color)
Color A = 1 strand DK weight wool held together with 1 strand lace weight mohair silk
Color B = 1 strand DK weight wool held together with 1 strand lace weight mohair silk
For example, you will need 280yds / 256m of DK weight wool AND 280yds / 256m of lace weight mohair silk for color A. You will also need the recommended yardage of color B for both the DK weight and lace weight strands of yarn.
