Diamond Jubilee Patchwork Cushion or Blanket
We are making a cushion to commemorate the 2012 Diamond Jubilee of the Queen’s succession to the throne. To be worked over 9 months, or sooner if you wish: 9 different squares in total. Each square will be available to buy separately.
Difficulty rating: easy-medium; only 2 colours are used in 6 of the squares, and a small amount of a 3rd colour is used in 3 of the squares, making this a straightforward introduction to colourwork.
Size: this double sided cushion cover will measure approximately 54cm by 54cm. The cushion consists of 18 knitted squares that are sewn together using an invisible stitch.
The Ikea “Stockholm” cushion is the correct size to fit this cushion cover.
The cushion requires:
approximately 360g of 4ply yarn.
needles to obtain a tension of approximately 28 st and 36 rows per 10cm.
A great way of using up spare yarn!
Note: the cushion motifs can also be used to make a blanket.
