About This Design
Diamonds are truly fascinating gems, aren’t they? Not just beautiful sparkling stones, they’re like nature’s ultimate trophy, all formed under immense pressure and heat deep within the Earth’s crust—talk about a dramatic backstory! It takes millions of years for carbon to transform into the dazzling gems we adore.
Regardless of why you might love diamonds, have you ever thought about the one part of your body that gets absolutely zero diamond attention? That’s right—our feet! Those glorious foot soldiers that do all the heavy lifting, supporting us while we live our best lives, but somehow always end up getting trampled on. They endure the struggles of everyday living while dreaming of a more glamorous life. Come on, our feet deserve a little bling too! After all, if diamonds are a girl’s best friend, why can’t our feet at least have a rhinestone upgrade? They’ve been carrying us through thick and thin—let’s give them the red-carpet treatment they truly deserve!
Diamond Life socks are a veritable mine of diamonds. They have diamonds stretching from your toes to your calves and hidden diamonds up the sides of your socks. The diamonds are shaped using a twisted stitch pattern with a twinkling diamond heart formed by Seed Stitch, all against a background of twisted 1x1 rib. And why not make your Diamond Life socks from the diamond of natural fibres … luscious merino wool?
Like most of my sock patterns, this one is toe-up with a German short-row heel turn, a nice deep gusset and a decorative heel flap.
Sizes
Small 18 cm/7 ins
Medium 20 cm/8 ins
Large 23 cm/9 ins
Extra Large 25.5 cm /10 ins
Please note that the completed dimensions for the foot circumference will be smaller than the actual foot circumference. This is because the pattern includes negative ease to ensure a snug fit. Please select your size based on your actual foot circumference measurement.
Gauge
32 stitches x 48 rows over 10 cm (4 in) in stocking (stockinette) stitch, knitted in the round using 2.25 mm (US size 1.0, UK size 13) needles. A good match for tension (especially stitch gauge) is essential for this pattern to ensure a good fit. Please move up or down a needle size and swatch one more time if your gauge does not match.
Yarn
Approximately 372 m/407 yds of 4 ply/fingering weight sock yarn that knits to match the required tension gauge. This is equivalent to approximately 100 g of yarn (2x 50 g balls), with the label specifying 186 m/203 yds per 50 g.
Needles
A pair of 2.25 mm (US size 1, UK size 13) 61 cm/24 in circular needles. Optional 2.5 mm (US size 1.5, UK size 12) circular needles for the cuff.
Notions
Cable needle, if you choose to use one.
Tapestry/darning needle.
Measuring tape.
Blocking materials (optional).
