Pattern Description

Mitered squares of varying sizes are used to shape both the hand and thumb portions of these mittens. They’re almost the knitting equivalent of potato chips–difficult to put down the yarn and needles as you never seem to want to stop after knitting just one mitered square.

Tips

It’s very important to achieve the correct gauge–9 sts/1”. And, be sure to use itty bitty ends when joining new strands of yarn; no use wasting any of that precious handpainted yarn. When working the charts, wrong side rows (odd numbered) are read from left to right. Right side rows (even numbered) are read from right to left.

These mittens also look wonderful knit with a solid color. The ridges give a textured look similar to that which is seen on Aran knits. Or, use your handpainted yarn leftovers to make patchwork mittens.
