Design
The Diamond Rain pullover features a cascading diamond pattern around the yoke, and ribbed body and sleeves that flare gently at their base. Lace inserts echo the diamond motif on the lower side and sleeve edges.

The pullover is named after an intriguing phenomenon thought to exist on many ‘ice giant’ exoplanets in our galaxy (e.g., Uranus, Neptune), where carbon compounds become compressed under extreme heat and pressure to produce diamonds that ‘fall like rain’ into the centre of such planets.

Construction
The pullover is worked top down seamlessly on circular needles. The yoke features a diamond and rib pattern, with short rows to raise the back (optional). The yoke is separated at the underarms, and the lower body and sleeves are continued separately in the round. Yoke, body, and sleeve lengths are adjustable. The pattern contains a schematic, sizing table, and written instructions accompanied by charts.

The pullover is worn with 5-20 cm / 2-8 in positive ease for a relaxed look. For a fitted look, go down one size. The yoke depth may be extended by 2.5 cm/1 in (+) for a full bust figure.

The sample pullover (size 2) is worn with positive ease of 15 cm/6 in at the chest, with lengths for a wearer 1.63 m/5 ft 4 in tall.

I used Lichen and Lace 80/20 Sock - 80% superwash merino, 20% nylon (100 g/3.53 oz, 334 m/3654 yds), col. silver fox (hand-dyed).

Knitting Gauge (after blocking)
27 sts and 41 rnds to 10 cm/4 in measured over lace pattern using 3 mm (US 2.5) needle.
27 sts and 36 rnds to 10 cm/4 in measured over gently pressed ribbing pattern using 3 mm (US 2.5) needle.
30 sts and 41 rnds to 10 cm/4 in measured over unpressed ribbing pattern using 3 mm (US 2.5) needle.

For best results, check your gauge before starting including wet blocking. If you have more stitches, go up a needle size; conversely, if you have fewer stitches go down a needle size.
